Franck Ribery could miss Arsenal Champions League tie after buttock surgery
Arsenal have been handed a boost ahead of their Champions League tie with Bayern Munich, following the news Franck Ribery could be sidelined after undergoing surgery on his buttocks.
We’ve checked out calendars and it’s not April 1, so it appears the Ballon d’Or nominee genuinely has suffered a backside-related ailment.
A statement on Bayern’s website said: ‘Franck Ribéry is definitely out of Bayern’s Bundesliga trip to Bavarian neighbours Nürnberg on Saturday afternoon.
‘The Uefa Best Player in Europe was forced to undergo a minor operation on Thursday evening to repair a burst blood vessel in his buttock.
‘Surgery became necessary at short notice because bruising associated with the damage was affecting a nerve.
‘Ribéry will remain in hospital until Sunday and will undergo a post-operative examination the following day.’Naturally, Ribery has already been the butt of the jokes on Twitter, as if he hadn’t got enough of a bum deal already.
